What pet food to feed your reptile

A reptile is an animal that lives in the wild. It’s a cold blooded creature that feeds on other animals meaning it’s carnivorous. With the increase in adoption of animals by humans from kit homes it has brought into light reptile domestication. Many people are now keeping reptiles in their homesteads as pets. Reptiles vary from snakes, crocodiles and lizards. How to feed these wild creatures is the big question in mind. Most individuals who keep these reptiles have different ways of feeding them. Some feed them with live food, some feed with frozen food and others feed with pre-killed food. Reptiles when in the wild they easily feed themselves. Keeping them as pets will mean that you must take the responsibility of feeding them because they depend on what you feed them to survive. It is important that you feed them on a good diet and the diet will depend on what you choose to feed them with.

Before choosing the kind of pets you want to keep at your home it is important that you do research to find out the kind of pets that are available. Reptiles are demanding animals and as they grow the demand for the food so increase. Another thing you should consider is the size of the reptile the bigger the size the more it will consume. With this in mind you will be able to know which pet food to buy for your pets. Since reptiles are carnivores the immediate pet food around will be meat or insects, and their habits may require mirror replacement.

Take for example a snake as the reptile. It will need to be fed with rabbits, mice, chicken, duke, turkeys or rats, e.g with dog food. This is the most available pet food that you can easily use to feed your reptiles.  Choosing pet food will depend on the how easy or comfortable the reptile can feed on it. You can feed your pet with live animals or pre-killed one. Feeding with a live animal can be a bit risk and it is therefore important that you stay around while your pet feeds. Pre-killed animals are the best choice for feeding you pets. Feeding with pre-killed food does not require you to be around to monitor the feeding process. With time the pet will learn on how to feed itself provided that the food is in the cage.

It is very important not to feed pets directly especially the domesticated reptiles. The wild nature of these creatures should be natured such that it fits well in the promotional bags homesteads. It will also prevent cannibal nature of reptiles separating the habitual nature of the wild and domesticated ones. Another example of pet food that reptiles can feed on is the insect. This varies from butterflies, moths and locusts. The kind of reptiles that feed on such includes lizards, chameleons or geckos. A simple way to feed pets with insects is by releasing the insects in an enclosed cage where the reptile live. This will enable the reptile to feed comfortably. Frozen and thawed food is also another way for feeding your reptiles
